CBD in Pro Sports
How Does CBD Impact the Pro’s?
CBD in Pro Sports is a gift to our athletic idols. Energy, recovery, relaxation. Everyone needs these in order to have a successful day, but this cycle is especially important for professional athletes, many of whom need to maintain their minds and bodies after years and years of grueling training and competition. This is where CBD has begun to insert itself into the professional sports world.
The Repercussions for Retirees: CBD Solutions
Notable retired athletes Mike Tyson, Rob Gronkowski and Jay Williams have all promoted CBD products within the last year. They all point to its calming and reinvigorating qualities. NFL and UFC athletes especially endure tons of force in contact to their head over the course of their careers. This can leave symptoms of headache, insomnia, vomiting, dizziness, and anxiety among many others. CBD has proven very effective in not only relieving these symptoms, but even healing the brain injuries that are causing these symptoms in the first place. David Wells, retired MLB pitcher, utilized CBD to break his dependence on Percocet among other pain killers.
The CBD Using Pro Athletes of Today
However, CBD isn’t only being taken advantage of by retired athletes. UFC president Dana White announced in July of 2019 that the UFC would be teaming up with Aurora Cannabis to study CBD and its effects on UFC fighters. These atheltes were chosen because they are often in need of pain medication. Prominent UFC star Nate Diaz spoke to the inflammation-relieving effects at a press conference after he was spotted using a CBD vape in public.
Why Controversy with CBD in Pro Sports?
Due to the chemical link between marijuana and CBD, lots of misinformation exists and professional sports league are hesitant to allow their athletes to use CBD. It’s very important to note the psychoactive chemical active in marijuana is not present in CBD. Removing CBD from banned substance lists for its relation to marijuana would be a positive step towards reform and also greatly benefit the athletes.
